The First Lady has spoken out about gender equality as part of her Let Girls Learn initiative.

Michelle Obama – who was in Madrid yesterday – has been on tour to promote her Let Girls Learn initiative, where she has been speaking out about women's rights.

The First Lady gave her take on how we can instill better values of equality into our children and break down "gender norms".

Obama is at the end of a tour of Liberia, Morocco and Spain, where she has been promoting this initiative, which aims to provide access to education for 62 million girls worldwide.

"You can start with how you raise your children if you choose to have them," she said.

That's how you all will begin to break down those old stereotypes and biases –- that’s how you’ll change the way that women and girls are seen.

And that's the kind of work that we need to be doing around the world –- the work of changing culture. The work of changing expectations and standards that we have for women and girls.
